You've Got Mail—2 / August 7, 2023

You’ve Got Mail—2

I have a bit of hardcore Yankee thrift in me that saves anything I think might be useful again in another circumstance. Ya just never know when snippets and scraps from one project might inspire a followup creation.

  1. Yankee trait? Guess something rubbed off on me. Every day I want to get to the gritty task of clearing out, never seems to happen. Maybe making my cards will help. Great postcards, glad you are back to that art format!

    1. Carol, yes, I’m back to postcards for a bit, enjoying the chance to paw through past exercises, experiments, and explorations for fodder for new creations. Great fun for me!

  2. I’m afflicted with the same thing! These postcards continue to be a delight and will bring smiles to your granddaughters’ faces. LOVE the hand lettering on the back! You’ve just nailed that child-like quality.

    1. These postcards are fun for me b/c they need be no more than simple hugs from me to Caroline and Emmy. The fun for C&E will be the physical fact of the cards more than their content, I think—the moment each day when their leader passes mail to them—although they’ll no doubt love my message’s being the words to a camp song we all know and have sung together many times.

The hand lettering, of course, is a direct outcome of the art convo and show and tell you and I shared recently : )

      1. Somehow I missed that the messages on the cards were words to a familiar song…..brilliant!!! I did recognize the lettering…and I’m loving that as much as anything. I’m going to have to practice it!

  3. Dialing in to the words of a song we all know and have sung many times provides a direct simple way to connect : )
