Process and Project, Finis Est! / February 5, 2025

Process and Project, Finis Est!

On my internal metaphoric nightstand:

seeker of truth
follow no path
all paths lead where
truth is here
—e.e. cummings

On my easel:

work in process, Monday morning
process goes full circle, fulfilling itself in an unexpected way, Monday afternoon
process and project, finis est

  1. Dotty ~ so the beginning was giving us a hint to the end piece? Never saw that coming. I’ve loved this series for all its meanderings and brightness. I do love the morning piece, I have to say. I can’t wait to see what’s next.

    1. Roseanne, thank you for your questions and feedback. I had no idea I would end up where I did. Each layer of the process offered gifts but by Monday morning both the process and the art itself were feeling uncomfortably “off” to me—fussy and forced rather than fanciful and free, so I got out my black gesso and put this accumulation of explorations to rest.

I didn’t actively DISlike the Monday morning iteration but it wasn’t a from-the-heart YES either and I’d lost the internal energy to take it somewhere new.

The canvas is back on a shelf in the closet in my studio for now. It’s at peace and I’m at peace : )

      1. I hear that; especially the dwindled internal energy. It’s not comfortable when we have to work so hard to make something fit. Meanwhile, that piece will sit quietly on the shelf, but it definitely has a to-be-continued feel, to which I look forward. 😁

  2. Love(d) it, Dotty! I am in awe of your creative courageousness.

Looking forward to the next phase, or new start. xoxo

    1. Sheila, thanks for your support! I’m moving on for now, with that canvas tucked away on a shelf. Now I’m stalled on a new project!

    1. LOL because your comment has thrown me back to 1967 to belt out the Beatles’ hit, Hello, Goodbye, by Paul McCartney!

I love your celebrating with me the hello of it all. Thanks, Lola.
