Spaciousness / May 30, 2024

Spaciousness

Took a small work-in-progress on paper beyond the point of no return today. My intention was to play and have fun, and I made good on that intention … until I didn’t.

Suddenly I was throwing good money after bad, as the saying goes.

Eventually, and uncharacteristically, I tore the piece into four pieces.

Buh-bye!

I feel delicious spaciousness now. Time to move on.

while I was still having fun playing with this piece!

  1. I love how torn up paintings can create something utterly new. I can imagine the spacious you feel!

    1. In this case, it was the actual impulsive but decisive physical act of ripping up the painting that created spaciousness. I tossed the pieces into a wastepaper basket and now have my hands and heart open to whatever comes next : )

  2. Been there done that….just a few days ago as a matter of fact. It’s kind of cathartic sometimes.

I do like this little piece at this stage, however. Especially that vase.

    1. Thanks, MaryAnn! I’m grateful that I took photos en route and captured this sweet spot—I’m also very fond of that vase, and of the botanical bouquet created from torn lifting paper : )
