On My Nightstand, On My Easel 4/23/24

On My Nightstand, On My Easel 4/23/24

On my nightstand:

The brandy,
kept for company,
is in the cabinet
with the meat grinder
over the fridge.
—Anita Shreve, Eden Close

Such a short sentence, filled with sturdy straightforward one- and two-syllable words, with 'company' and 'cabinet' the only words sporting three syllables and even then staying sturdy and straightforward.

But what a gem, what an exquisite evocative poem shines in that spare prose!

On my easel:

Having completed six explorations on dark backgrounds in my current inquiry, I return today to the unintentionally-mid-value squares I marked off in my journal some weeks ago.

    1. A treasure trove of gems! The common crow here was made uncommonly magnificent courtesy of a gem of fusible fabric—thank you again for the glorious bits you selected for me : )

Thanks once again, Sheila, for loving one of my titles. This one, I thought, contributed especially effectively to completing this piece. Delighted that this piece was a jaw dropper for you : )
