Wuji
In Chinese philosophy and Qigong there is a concept of Wuji that, in simple terms, represents the state of absolute emptiness or non-duality, where there is no differentiation between yin and yang.
Wuji can be considered the foundational stance in Qigong. When done correctly, the practitioner achieves a perfect alignment, allowing energy to move freely throughout the body and preparing the mind to access a profound, meditative state.
I am a newbie to Qigong practice and a newbie to Wuji. In class, Wuji is the stance from which we start all movement and the stance to which we return. It is home. It is a place of alignment, of stretching. While my bones are light and lifted up, my flesh simultaneously pulls down against the bones, and channels are created to allow for the flow of Qi.
In this CutUp: the flow of brushstrokes on paper, the flow of cutting, the flow of moving into place, the flow of emptying everything.
