Scattershot

More Wholly Here

in medias res
i walk to my studio,
reconnect briefly with a journal page
where i'd begun messing about
haphazardly
a few days ago.

i tear a bit of paper,
collage it to my mess,
splatter india ink.
the ink runs
amok,
not to my eye’s pleasure.

i grab a square of toilet tissue,
blot the ink,
make a different mess,
spy a nearby metallic pen,
what if? …
and resolve that bit of composition.

all heart opening—
these moments of generative engagement.
a portal, a gift—
these moments.
expansive—
these moments.

    1. Well, shaZAM, MaryAnn—thank you! So grateful that my minutes in my studio oozed their way into words, art, and heart-opening connection ❤️

  3. I am always inspired by your “what if” journeys as you explore and create! A good reminder to be flexible and curious – in all things, perhaps? You inspire me. xo

    1. I just came from our guest room where, impulsively, I’d covered the bed with a drop cloth and set up a minimalist makeshift ‘studio’ space from which to impulsively go back into a painting already hanging on the wall there and indulge in a fast-and-furious mad dash of what ifs, immediately after which I opened my computer and there were your MOST welcome comments! In answer to my second guessing self-talk, i.e. “Did I just wreck that painting?”, I discovered that no, I had not; I’d been INSPIRING! Well, hot damn!

You DID take note of the Lolacollage pieces, yes??

  4. What a gift. Could we ask for more? I think not. I love the piece and I love how your narrative is a poem.
