FamFest24 Souvenir / July 15, 2024

FamFest24 Souvenir

A happy little paintover piece for my front entry, started before my adult kids and their spouses and their kids arrived for 4th of July week, displayed in its work-in-progress stage during that week, now completed and in place probably until fall, encapsulating (a) the anticipation of FamFest; (b) the swimming, eating, playing games, boogie-boarding, laughing, eating, going to a parade, watching fireworks, engaging in powerful civil political discourse, cleaning and caulking gutters and downspout, walking, eating, laughing, reading, making art, cutting and installing garage trim, taking the train to Boston, savoring ice cream, dozing, laughing, and eating strawberry shortcake and s’mores of FamFest, and (c) the sweet afterglow memories of FamFest.

    1. Lola, thanks! Same for me: the sweet afterglow radiates and I feel instant JOY and lightheartedness. It will definitely have a place in our front entry for the rest of the summer, and again next summer : )

  2. LOVE! I agree, pure JOY here. So much fun. I was just reading about asemic writing/art. Apparently there is an app for it, but the link wasn’t working. I thought it would be fun to look at, but computer generated… feels like that would defeat the purpose. Haha.

    Happy creating to you, Dotty!

    1. Sheila, you’ve got me curious now to pop into an asemic writing rabbit hole. The idea of an app, as you suggest, is a bit ironic, but I AM curious to see what such an app would be!

  3. Oh, Dotty, this is such a colorful, textured way to remember these happy days. You can make prints to send as cards to your family. I bet they’d love them. ♥️

    1. Roseanne, thanks for celebrating with me my colorful, textured souvenir of happy days with family in early July. Great idea to make prints or, now that I write that, choose this image when I make my annual art calendar, a copy of which goes to each family as a Christmas gift—the July page is now already planned. Woot woot! Thank you!

    1. I’ve made one every year for about 10 years now. Very satisfying! I do it thru Shutterfly using a 12 square inch format, and I coordinate the calendar grid at the bottom with the image above it. I’ll send you a photo of this month’s page!
