On My Nightstand, On My Easel 4/16/24

On My Nightstand, On My Easel 4/16/24

On my nightstand:

“You know,” my aunt says,
“I once had a difficult period that lasted
twenty-four years.”
Wait. Twenty-four years?
“And it was so important to realize
that I didn’t know
what was on the other side of the darkness.
Every so often there was a sliver of light
that shot the whole world through
with mystery and wonder, and reminded me:
I didn’t have all the information.”
—Dani Shapiro, Hourglass

On my easel:

I painted some flower blobs on deli paper, tore them out, auditioned them on yesterday’s experiment by arranging them this way and that. They got the part!

    1. Thank you for bringing action to your intention to comment, “crftherapy.” I welcome feedback and cherish the art (and life) conversations I have here at my blog.

I’m pleased that my so-called flower blobs resonated with you, along with that quotation. I had fun with the process of auditioning and then incorporating those little blossoms in my composition, and the passage from Dani Shapiro’s memoir, Hourglass, packs a punch each and every time I read it.

    1. Totally gotta love a sliver of light shooting the world through with mystery and wonder, reminding us when we think all is darkness that we don’t have all the information.

Oh, yay!, love that the blooms on the table captured your heart ❤️.

Thank you, once again, MaryAnn, for your thoughtful responses to my creative ventures.
