Still Poking Around

In early June I painted a 14 x 17″ chaos-layer start and cut it into quadrants with the intention of developing each piece with neurographic linework while on vacation.

The vacation got waylaid by smoke from Canadian wildfires. The painting starts got waylaid when I felt stumped each time I picked one up hoping to give it a go.

A month ago I experimented with one of them, telling myself to make a few marks and see what evolved. What evolved didn’t please my eye at any stage of the process. I eventually cut the piece into bookmarks. They didn’t please my eye either.

Today I decided to poke around a bit more with the dripped-paint trees series I’ve worked on for the past 10 days, this time cutting in half and using chaos-layer quadrant #2 from June.
