Hopscotch, Take 2!

Below you’ll see the post I mistakenly released last week before I was actually prepared to go live.

–––

Inspired by Jane Davies, who recently got a new blog up and running at WordPress, I found myself ready to take on the challenge of doing the same myself after tolerating for way too long the frustrations of comment-generation chaos and nonfunctioning notification at my old blog site.

So I picked up a pebble, tossed it to a new square on the hopscotch court of the internet, and leaped energetically to my next blog location. For now, I’m keeping alive links to my previous platform, where eight years of art and stories reside so that, as in hopscotch, my followers and I will be able to hop up the court and back whenever we choose.

Now set up at WordPress, with any good fortune followers who choose to be notified of new posts will be notified of new posts, and followers who choose to comment will be able to comment, bringing back the lifeblood of the conversation that nourishes me at my blog.

To practice loading images in posts at this new site, I’m posting the very first painting from my very first blog post ever, originally shared on the web in May 2015.

River Birches on the Loose, 6 x 6″, acrylic on wood panel, 2015

  2. I love the looseness of the trees and your colors.I always like your trees. Good lights and darks. Love the title.

  3. Thanks, Ann! These were early trees—possibly the first since our painting retreat 9 years ago this month, and a big leap forward from the tree I painted at our retreat : ) Titling my pieces is always a welcome creative act.

  4. The birches remind me of ones we used to pass on our way to Bethel. I’m hoping all of the glitches have been resolved and that I can finally leave comments!

    1. Comment received and “approved.” As I understand it, you are now good to go and should be able to comment whenever you wish. Praise be! And thank you!

Love that birches evoke sweet memories of trips to Bethel : )

  5. You probably recognize the avatar, but not the user’s name. Not going to rock the boat. Love the simplicity of the trees and the format of your new blog! Mazal Tov! Looking good! May fiddle more on my WordPress account. Carol

    1. Yes, indeed, I know your avatar and know you by the alternate name. The same sort of ‘crossover’ is evident with several of my subscribers—puzzled me initially but I quickly caught on to what was taking place. Thank you for commenting here. I’m having increasing faith that this new venture may work : )

  9. Always FANCY! You know me and my fancy ways. Yes, MY friend has been invaluable in getting me this far! Still busy working out kinks that are barely (if at all) within my grasp this morning.

You’ll notice in the River Birches painting, I used artist’s license with the background—next door neighbor’s house? next door neighbor’s custom dirt pile? what house? what dirt pile?

  13. Holy blog comment, Batman! You did it, Lola!

Am I correct in thinking that you were able to comment despite not being able to subscribe? I’ve sent an SOS message to the so-named Happiness Engineer at WordPress for help regarding you and one other wannabe subscriber not yet meeting success with the subscription process. Waiting for a reply from said HE.

    1. I do, too! Never dreamed I’d make lasting deep friendships when I began blogging, nor that I would get ongoing support, feedback, and art learning!
