You've Got Mail—or … Not! / August 21, 2023

You’ve Got Mail—or … Not!

Well, those campers whose folks stopped by the camp office on opening day to deposit letters—written in advance—into bins labeled by desired date of delivery probably received all their “mail.”

My campers did not fare so well, hahaha! Caroline received only six of the twelve postcards I sent via the United States Postal System; Emmy received eight.

Despite the dismal performance of the USPS, my feelings about the faux-mail system at Takodah haven’t changed. I understand the intent and can see the merits, but I’m still not buying it. Real mail is real mail, and that’s what I plan to send again next year!

While I’m here waving my stick-with-tradition flag, I’ll share two more paintings from family camp 2015. Please smile with me as you take note of the sticks propping up cabin shutters : )

    1. I DID have fun every day! And through my postcards and via intention, I “went to camp” every day : )

LOL at your tying together the stick on my metaphoric flag and the ones holding up the shutters!!! Thank you!

  3. Thank you for these warm, welcoming camp views. Such a bummer about the mail, but I agree about real mail. ;o) Making me think it is time to revisit Hayley Mills or Lindsay Lohan in The Parent Trap for an at home camp fix. LOL.

    1. Enjoy your at-home camp fix if you indulge, Sheila. Thanks for making reference to these painted camp views in an earlier comment—it was fun to take a fresh look at them and feature them as the visual anchor for this post.
