Super Summer 23! / July 27, 2023

Super Summer 23!

Two weeks ago while up on a step ladder re-siding our garage, Dave took a tumble, a tumble of the fractured-two-vertebrae sort. To our great gratitude—and astonishment!—no spinal cord damage, nothing else broken, no internal bleeding, no concussion. Following a few days of advanced trauma care flat on his back in hospital, he has returned home to a 6-8 week gig in a cervical collar 24/7—no driving, no lifting anything heavier than a gallon of milk, and so forth.

Team Dave&Dotty Adaptive, Inc., is taking on the unexpected challenges of SuperSummer23!

Dotty the artist, however, is a bit distracted, unfocused, and taking frequent naps. But she is getting to her studio periodically, a few minutes at a time, using her sketchbook for some therapeutic experimenting and freeplay.

    1. MaryAnn, thanks for your kind wishes. SuperSummer23 is not anything I could have anticipated but it is not without joy, discovery, outward challenge, inward grace, and mystery! Thanks for your appreciation of this red sketchbook piece, a piece that fanned a little spark in me.

  4. holy macaroons! I am so relieved there was no damage to the really REALLY important things (spinal cord! ack!) If any team can handle this, it is the two of you. Sending love and hugs and healing thoughts!

  5. Wow Dotty! So glad he is okay! Maybe pick up some rescue remedy for both of you if you are out at a health food store. I find it always helps, but even if it is just a placebo, i still love it. 💓💛🌞💐

    1. Thea, is rescue remedy contraindicated if taken while Dave is also self-medicating with his favorite local strawberry ice cream hahaha???!!!

Joking aside, thanks for your well wishes and thoughtful reminder of rescue remedy.

  6. OUCH! So, so glad for Dave that it is not worse! We so often forget how fragile we are, as a species. Until something like this reminds us. But then, injury also reminds us of our inner strength and tenacity. Happy Healing Summer to you both! 🙂 This bloom-ish composition makes me think of both of those qualities. It is bold and strong, but there are also some delicate bits and edges. LOVE! 🙂
