Shape Up or Ship Out
Oh my gosh, I am dialed in to shapes everywhere I look, and today’s mini-Matisse was inspired by the ribs of a wooden ship, so shape up or ship out, dear readers, hahaha!
I continue to experiment with background texture that will enhance without overpowering.
Played here with penciled journaling. Even with a light hand, it felt too dark. Came back in with a silicone eraser to both take away bits of and lightly smudge the penciled writing. Better but still darker than desired. Covered it with a piece of food wrap of the sort I mentioned in yesterday’s post. Yes!
In other news: three of my interlibrary-loan Matisse books have come in! Woot woot!

Sheila, I do fancy strong simplified graphic art. A logo!
And my smudged/erased/muffled words mimicking a turbulent ocean—I don’t recall now specifically what I actually said in words in the backdrop of this piece, but it’s safe to surmise that at least a sentence or two rolled with turbulence : )
