Bright (Bright) Sunshiny Day / January 8, 2024

Bright (Bright) Sunshiny Day

Day after our Snow Day:

You look out the window,
or, better, open the door,

[or, still better, head outdoors, I add]
and there it is,
everything changed,
covered with softness,
every angle forgiven,
every eyesore hidden.
 —Rosellen Brown, Before and After

With mini-Matisse #2 I used the same palette of papers as with #1 but found a more satisfying composition, and I applied what I learned from #1 about using ink lines to link pieces in the arrangement, i.e. don’t! At least not in conjunction with the thickness of paper here.

  1. That’s how I felt this morning….everything outdoors had changed!

I usually have to learn lessons several times before they sink in….and sometimes they never do. Good for you for applying what you learned. Looking forward to seeing your whole collection Matisse minis!

    1. I can apply a lesson learned if the opportunity to do so falls in quick succession to the learning. Then there are the lessons I’ve been working on for decades and have yet to automatize : )

    1. Simone, thank you! I am happy to have your immense enjoyment matching my own! I am captivated by this world of cutting directly into color and drawing with scissors. I will continue playing.
