All-Day Steady-Rain Rainy Day / September 18, 2023

All-Day Steady-Rain Rainy Day

Rain has been tapping on the roof and skylights all the live-long day.

But I feel as though I’ve been out hiking up hill and down, into small dales, beside copses, under big skies, along trails, fresh dry air abounding.

Thank you, sketchbook, tape, India ink, white gesso, oil pastel, eye dropper, tissue, water brush, and palette knife.

Are these down-and-dirty-don’t-stop-to-think-keep-moving-walk-away-in-minutes sketches fun or what?

    1. I did get a nice little workout for a rainy day! It’s been awhile since I’ve just popped into my studio for such a satisfying burst of quick-moving intuitive creative play. The fun and experimentation were so welcome and buoying.

    1. Love the Lays potato chip analogy, Sheila! Thanks! They were great fun to paint, and part of the appeal to me is their dwelling in a grid together.
