Steadfast

These homesteaders fought long and hard to get and keep a toehold on this patch of land, fending off wreckers, developers, and other bullheaded, short-sighted demolitionists hell-bent on 'progress' and 'improvement.' With patience and the long view they turned the earth, seeded, reseeded, tended, cultivated, and protected, called to steadfast stewardship, never wavering when it appeared that all might have been lost.

Let's hope and pray that all "homesteaders" will continue a save the earth, so far our only home! Love those purple collage pieces!

Thanks for your comments, Carol. May we all work as one in our stewardship of our planet and our commitment to assuring that each of us has a patch of land that we can call home where we can safely rest at night.

The purple: fun, yes!

I can feel the tenacity of these homesteaders, in their sliding-off-the-planet houses! Surely they are gripping the very earth, holding on with deep roots. Is that a massive swimming pool? Or a lake? I love the whimsy of the earth-is-round against the falling-off-the-edge-of-the-earth water. Apparently this painting needed a lot of hyphenated words. :)

Jen, so much fun and info in your highly-hyphenated-helpful-highlighting feedback. Now I think I'm going to dive into that water and fall off the edge of the earth for a bit, see what's there : )

Just love this happy little homestead. And your title as always, is very smile inducing :)

'Tis indeed a fun, textured little patch of land/patch of postcard. Thanks for your comments, Sheila, and glad to induce a smile.
