MaryAnn, thank you! I learned quite a bit in the course of this series … much of which I will no doubt have to relearn more than once in future projects!
I will also follow in Lola's footsteps and start cutting away. Would love to see what I can do with small images. Great teacher to learn and follow. Yes, pure MAGIC!
Lola, thanks! I'm trying to think when I might first have cut up a painting as an exploration—no memory! but that practice is a frequent one for me. Sometimes I cut with the intention to excise a particular bit but more often I turn a paper over and chop so as (a) to get a number of same-sized pieces without creating any scraps and (b) to intentionally have no control of the resulting compositions.

Lovely to see your collage as a series! (Simone)
Simone, hello! And thank you for including your name with your comment : )
I still surprise myself when I paint a series! This one has colors inspired by your signature color palette.
Speaking of your color palette, the paintings and painting details you've been posting at Instagram light me up, every time and every one!
I had forgotten that this started as one painted piece. What a delightful little series it grew into! Well done!
