On My Nightstand, On My Easel 3/29/23

On my nightstand:

Geese appear high over us,

pass, and the sky closes. Abandon,

as love or sleep, holds

them to their way, clear

in the ancient faith: what we need

is here. And we pray, not

for new earth or heaven, but to be

quiet in heart, and in eye,

clear. What we need is here.

    —Wendell Berry

On my easel:

I'm having so much fun playing with faux calligraphy!

I can see why you're having fun....that writing is just so wonderful!

This writing has captured me—I've not turned my hand to anything quite like it previously. The larger splotches were dripped into place chaos-layer-style first and then became visual anchors for the more refined intentional mark-making.
