Blind Contour 2

• look only at still life, not at paper

• use non-dominant hand

• use Flair felt-tip marker (thinner than Sharpie of yesterday)

• hold marker loosely at top end

• do not lift marker from page

• draw for only 90 seconds

Gifts of limits: playfulness, surprise, engagement with the physicality of drawing, primitive linework, presence.

exercise: blind contour drawing

Bravo! Great control with non-dominant hand. Does the felt tip move easier than the sharpie?

1. LOL at your comment re 'great control,' when my distinct enjoyment came from the great measure of LACK of control!
2. hmm, didn't pick up on differences in ease with the two different markers. Will try to remember to do so as I move forward. I'm guessing the fine tip felt tip move with a bit more ease??

Thanks, Simone. I'm grateful to be encouraged in this class to do many interations of a particular set of directions, for example to do many blind contour drawings. I can feel how much there is to learn. It's very absorbing. Glad 2nd such drawing appeals to you!

yes! that handle! Why is it that it would never occur to me to draw it so deliciously if I were looking at the page??!
