Here's my Inauguration Day story.
We have Dan the Man, a trusty tile guy (same guy who did a bathroom renovation for us), installing tile in our mudroom which directly abuts the kitchen where I usually eat. Because I want to watch/hear inauguration proceedings without tile-installation noise, I set up my lunch on a tray and take it to my study.
I place the tray on the table there and start to reach for my laptop to get it set for inauguration viewing. The tray slides off whatever I perched it on, and almost everything on the tray slides off the tray, making more cacophony than any tile installation.
Homemade soup (broccoli, chicken, kale, carrots, olive oil, bone broth, snow peas, and spinach) in a 20-ounce handpainted bowl; half an avocado; a serving of homemade cole slaw on a favorite ceramic plate; a small bowl of dried pumpkin seeds; a 16-ounce glass of water.
Onto a fabric-covered chair, an open heating grate, a pine floor with spaces between boards, and a decorative metal bowl filled with river stones and three votive candles.
Soup bowl loses a big fragment; plate breaks into pieces.
A peaceful transition of power. Go, Joe! Go, Kamala!

Yay! I love getting those little peeks in your (art)life!
Simone, I love having you on the receiving end! This post is assuredly a glimpse into no other world but this one!
Dotty, your writing is as visually delightful as this morning's greeting cards. I met this morning's sunrise with tears of laughter! Thank you for this start to my day!
AWESOME! Carolyn, thx for letting me know I sparked tears of laughter —— what could be better! My day can already be deemed a wholehearted success : )
holy moly! Is it just me, or does "Turn Me Into..." look a bit like the contents of a bowl leaping into the air as the bowl falls to the floor? Serious movement in that one! And "No Other World..." reads like a calming figure...arms and hands gently pushing downward and reassuring "hush, hush, everything's ok". Which I totally feel with Joe and Kamala at the helm. :)
Great read on these pieces, Jen! Yes, Turn Me Into is an apt representation of the explosive crash of my lunch; No Other World is my calm view and acceptance of the dancing déjeuner, with the reassuring presence of Joe and Kamala holding me up!
You are a master of words and paint!
Thank you for your kind words, Carol.
I commented , but apparently I did not hit publish. LOL. I was laughing at this, because that same day, my laptop took a dive, and it broke the adaptor, where it plugs into the computer. UGHH! Well, 5 days with no power, right as the challenge was starting, and I needed my Photoshop and files! LOl. And the reason I let the laptop fall, is because I had a mug of hot soup in my hands. Hard choice. and an expensive one. LOL. Well, it was better the first time I told it. LOL LOVE both of these Dotty!!!
Sheila, painful story about your laptop. Glad you have a heart open enough to find the humor. "Turn Me Into Song" above looks like an abstracted depiction of your laptop dive —— "Computer Yields to Consommé"!!!
