Masks and Masking

Remember when masks were something you wore for Hallowe'en, and not something of which you had multiples in your possession so you'd always have one at hand for daily use in one setting or another?

The setting today was my studio. The masks were created from painter's tape.

That's a huge canvas!
I love to see all the little details in the background. I'm curious how the painting will evolve!

Indeed, for me it's a huge canvas. I started with some vague notion of what I wanted to do with it about six weeks ago, possibly longer. Then I switched gears and began taking it in a new direction a month ago. Most recently I've used it as a place to offload the last bits of paint from brushes as I've worked on other projects. Now I'm heading in a particular direction for the experiment of doing so, to see what happens at this scale, but, in the end, once I complete that inquiry I may go for another idea altogether!

I love masking with tape! And what a lovely sized canvas this is...whoa!

Masking with tape can be fun, although I'm realizing it's WAY more manageable on a 6 x 6" gessobord! I continue to keep moving forward with my experiment, bit by bit.
