Carol, I truly drew one unpremeditated line on my black gessoed panel, and that line begot each next line or brush stroke or decision. Snippets of text collage call to me again and again; I love painting with collage. Fun to hear that you love the 'crawling lines'!
I completely missed the collage. Sorry to say (that I am so blind, LOL) it took me three views. But mostly because I was dazzled by the little bits of gold green light! Next I was drawn in by the spidery centers. Then I tried to figure out which line was first. Hahaha. Next the scratchy marks made me smile. And then I noticed the white "lines" as highlights. Then I read the comments, thanks Carol for cluing me in. LOL :) Guess maybe I need to clean my glasses. LOL :) Pure Joy here, thanks so much Dotty :)
Your missing the collage on your first passes lets me know that I integrated it well enough that it doesn't jump out and call attention to itself, for which I am glad. The gold green (itself collage) was one of my favorite parts of the process because it brought such light and value contrast to the piece. Love your curiosity regarding the first line—it was a thin white china marker line on black gesso that began as a curve then wrapped itself around to become the ovoid shape that sits with one end covering center and the rest of the shape extending left of center. Thanks for your comments, Sheila!
