A Stillman & Birn Beta Series Premium Sketchbook, softcover edition, suitable for dry and wet media, watercolor, and ink, found its way to me some few months ago.
Always grateful for the promise of a new day. I was feeling mountains towards the end of this piece—perhaps because I'll be heading to Shenandoah Valley on Friday, a trip that will include the Pocono, Allegheny, Blue Ridge, Shenandoah, Massanutten, and Appalachian mountain ranges (and probably others whose names I don't know).
Thanks for cheering me on, Carol. I think I may have done a few sketches once in another (inexpensive, with brown paper) sketchbook, but this feels more like my first bona fide foray into using a sketchbook.
Hi Simone, thank you! I, in turn, have just looked up 'engrossing' and indeed it is just the right word for yesterday's painting adventure—plus, I had fun looking at the etymology of the word to see its derivation.
I didn’t see mountains in this but felt like I was lying on the ground looking up through trees. That said, I am in awe of mountains and am so envious of your upcoming trip through many mountain ranges!

Bravo Dotty! I always find it hard to break into a new sketchbook. Lots of energy in this piece! Love Posca!
Misty morning mountains. Promise of a new day. :)

It looks really beautiful and fun!
I just looked up what 'engrossing' means... It indeed looks 'engrossed' ;-)!
bye!

Great to see you playing again! Love the title of this one.
I've been doing more playing than posting, but I'm grateful to be happily received when I pop up online. Glad you like the title : )

Love that you felt like you were lying on the ground looking up through trees. Yes! On instagram, several folks saw branches.
It's hard to imagine not being a stone's throw from the ocean but, if I had to choose a different terrain, I'd choose mountains.
OMG! Gritty, textured, organic....mesmerizing! I love this. xo
From Psalm 121: “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills...”
Jen! Love that you tuned right in to gritty, textured, and organic—gritty, textured, and organic were the joy of creating this piece : )
