Except for the time when he actually did give me a dish of milk.
Cruel, I tell ya!

When prepping for my recent West Virginia vacation, one item I packed was the hand-painted anniversary card I'd made for Dave—another card made from a painting started on Monhegan Island in August.
On the 11th, I pulled it out to perch at his place on the table.
Turns out that, although I carefully wrote his name on the envelope and carefully placed the envelope in a protective folder for safe travel, I left the card itself under the cover of our scanner at home.
Dish of milk!

Loved reliving the dish of milk story, and loved the forgotten anniversary card story (so easy to see how that happened). All’s well that ends well, as this card certainly did. ❤️
Loved pudding as a child! Butterscotch! That must have been quite a surprise! Love all the hidden figures in this piece! Probably lots of hidden secrets!
Joje, I knew the dish-of-milk story would catch your attention : )
I LOL when I discovered the empty envelope in our little cabin in the WV wilderness!
Thanks for your sweet closing comment : )
Back in the same years as the dish-of-milk event, my family once took part in some product testing over the course of several weeks—lots of red jello, as I recall!
Who knows what secrets might be hidden in this painting? I myself can't identify them.
ha! OMG! Poor Dave! Well I am sure he was DELIGHTED to receive it when you returned home. What a great story!
Dave's side of the story is that he ran out last minute in Mathias WV to a little one-off convenience store in the middle of nowhere and made do with the card selection there—which, in the end, trumped what I had to offer in the moment! Fun story, yes?
I can totally imagine your face with that bowl of milk in front of you! I love your little poetic anecdotes!
Simone, so glad you enjoyed my childhood story! I was devastated when my dad pulled his prank—we laugh about it to this day, and he's apologized!
Great story and lovely card!
The dish of milk and the envelope of air both make me laugh! Glad you enjoyed the story and the card, Janet.
Oh, funny. The second story. The first is heartbreaking. LOL ;)
The dish of milk was a bit heartbreaking—you can imagine my innocent trust going in and my feeling of betrayal! The empty envelope just made me laugh!
