An October Wednesday

Today unfolded as a string of embodied engaged moments of presence for which I feel tremendous gratitude. Today was a day out of time, a day of grace.

Late in the afternoon, the urge to paint beckoned me for the first time in days and days.

My lived experience of this Wednesday in October expressed itself in color-mixing and mark-making and brushstrokes.

The color mixing and the way the colors played with the mark-making were such a gift yesterday. Glad to get your feedback about the natural colors.

Thanks, Carol. I've recently renewed my interest in playing with color mixing. Thanks for your favorable feedback.

Jen, thanks for your feedback. I had the same thought that I could stop here. Remains to be seen when studio time rolls around today : )

I thought of you when I got going on this one—I painted on a free, already-painted canvas picked up two summers ago at a neighbor's yard 'sale.'

Janet, thank you for your input on the neutrals—I love them also. I was glad both to be called to paint and to have answered the call.

I’m so impressed with how 3-D this looks!

Joje, thanks for your feedback. Really fun to hear since the fun of this piece came from intuitively putting paint to canvas and then stepping back to see that I liked it!

The depth in this is wonderful Dotty. Did you mean to do that? LOL :) This palette is surprisingly energetic and, lively!d Love it!

Sheila, your question about how the depth got created, i.e. intentionally or not, is totally legit! My focus was really on playing with color mixing and geometric shapes—an exercise, so to speak. I was intuitively pulled to play with light and dark, which I guess became depth while I was cruising along : )
