How have you been? he asks,
after a swallow of coffee,
which always smells so good
but when you taste it
you get a bitter surprise.
And you always
want to taste it again
because how could your nose
be so wrong?
but it is.

Would love to join you for a "cuppa". I can imagine sitting on your porch on a cool summer day!
Carol, let's do it!!!
I am drinking my coffee as I admire your percolating postcard! OMG I adore that title. Love your way of marrying art and words. Happily ever after!
Percolating postcard! I have strong sensory memories of the stovetop percolator my Grandma Chase used—I can smell the bitter coffee smell, see the tin pot with all its parts, hear Grandma's voice as we chat over the noisy burbling and spitting of the percolation process.
Thanks for your OMG for the title and your affirmation of the grand delight I take in marrying art and words.
Mmm, I can smell it now. I am not a coffee drinker, once in a while is enough for me. And it always smells better than it tastes. To me. Chickling and LOVING this post. :)
Sitting here smiling in return that once in a while is enough coffee for you and it always smells better than it tastes! Glad that you enjoyed this post, Sheila—it was a fun one for me.
