Another painting is spiffed up and ready to strut its stuff, this one a favorite of mine that I painted in December 2015. I covered MDF with a medium gloss, soft, buttery, yellow house paint that picks up on highlights in the painting and speaks to the sunlight in the accompanying haiku.
Mighty Darn Fine, if I do say so myself.

Oh, Dotty, I love where you have been, where you are now, and where you're going! I love this! And abstract landscape, and all of it. And your writing has exploded, too! And your beautify banner. Geez! I need to get a new phone, as this one is limited. I miss alot when I take a break from the computer. Excellent to see such eye candy! "looking at things for the first time".......wonderful.
Laurie, I was JUST thinking about you a few minutes ago, wondering how you are and what you're up to! [I do know you haven't been blogging!!!] Having you been teaching classes? Painting? Hanging out with friends and family? Hats off to you, by the by, for taking a break from the computer.
Thanks so much for stopping by and thanks for your wonderful welcome enthusiasm. I get a little lost sometimes when I'm in the thick of it, so to speak, and don't think to step back and take a bigger look at what I've been doing.
Oh My GOSH! Dotty this is buttery goodness and glow! Stunning, dear one. You are a multitalented artist. LOVE!
Well, gosh, thanks, Jen! It was fun to go back to this piece from 2015 in the early days when I was just beginning to get more venturesome. Now it's all spruced up and looking really finished : )
This is a side of you I haven't seen! Beautiful and love the haiku. What else is in your portfolio? Looking forward to seeing more
Thanks, Janet. It's been lovely to combine art and poetry (haiku only) lately, and lovely to revisit paintings done early in my art adventure to make them show/sell-ready, a new direction for me. More to come, one way or another!
love the colors and textures. Gives off freidly closeness.
Carol, thanks for your impressions : )
Hi again- yes, I teach beginning and intermediate so I'm gone all day on Mondays, and of course there is always lots of preparation. And I am happy to say I have 6 or 7 commissions lined up! I am going to get back on the computer soon, and I'll post some recent paintings. Keep up your awesome and inspiring work!
Absolutely one of my favorites of yours. So nice to see them again. Love the shapes of the shadow and the rolling hill. Love the textured sky. The trees are bursting with texture and color and everything is just so... luscious!
Sheila, thanks so much. This was a very enjoyable one to paint. I created it a couple of months after the Sep 2015 30in30 Challenge (my first) and a couple of months after my mom died, and I was really beginning to experiment and try all sorts of new stuff—palette knife, tissue paper collage, oil pastels, using negative space to carve out a scene. Thanks for your appreciation of the various details.
