Today, again, I pay attention to and seek the spaces in between, hold myself as open as I can to the stillness always available to me if I will but drop into it.
Today, again, I go to my studio.
Today, three new colors to play with—all house paint hand-picked by my granddaughters.
Outwardly, the scene is one of my hands and eyes working together, using foam rubber brushes to move some paint around on paper, on the start I created yesterday.
The inward experience? A wordless simultaneity of stillness and movement, of deep peaceful energy, of elemental flow.

A very good place to be. Why is it this makes me happy? Is it the frilly, girly, playful pink? Or the sunny, joy filled yellow? the warm, welcoming earth tones? The graphic lines peeking out at me? Oh well. Happy is happy. :)
Well, Sheila, maybe your happy response to this connects to my son's girlfriend's seeing this and saying, "Looks like it could be a pattern on a flowy summer dress." I immediately told her about my surface designer artist friend Sheila who could SO make that happen!
Speaking of happy, it's a VERY warm May morning here (could break a 1991 temp record today), it's early (530a), and I'm sitting with my cup of tea having one of my daily exchanges with you. How lucky are we to have bumped into each other back in 2015?! Very.
whoa. just lovely...the piece and your words...I am enchanted.
Jen, thanks for popping in to say good morning. I love our back-and-forths. Appreciate your loving the piece and the words, and your being enchanted.
We're getting FL weather today!
Dotty, this is so beautiful! Is it really still in progress? Be done with it! Delicate, soft, and summery looking. Also, I wish you a belated Happy Birthday. I hope it was a wonderful day for you. The photograph is priceless. And by the way, your blog in general is getting more and more beautiful to look at!
Laurie, yay! Fun to see your name in my inbox! Thanks for your feedback and enthusiasm. In answer to your question, well, yes, till in progress. In fact I cut it in half yesterday and will go from there. Thanks for the bday wishes—it was indeed a wonderful day for me and has been celebrated a few times since, equally wonderfully. Love that you're enjoying my ongoing art adventures. Music to my ears as I move more deeply into abstract and not-knowing.
This is lovely Dotty.
Thanks, Ann. This work in progress got many rave comments at Instagram, too—makes me laugh in delight b/c it feels like nothing more than a start to me.
Gorgeous! The colours, brushstrokes.... Your granddaughters have given you a lovely palette to work with. I think you hit it out of the park with this 'start'!
Thanks, Janet. I'm enjoying a warm response to this start across the board.
My daughter said Caroline and Emmy had a blast. Usually trips to the paint store are house-decor related, and their wishes don't necessarily factor in. This time, "Pick whatever you want!" The salesperson kept asking questions, "What finish would you like? Satin? Eggshell? Do you want interior? exterior? " etc. My daughter explained, "Doesn't matter!"
First, I remember that Wednesday. Actually hotter than it was in Israel.everyone said I brought the heat.:) Actually they remind me of some flowers that I photographed just yesterday. We had our art class at a nearby park. https://goo.gl/photos/TnRdiGsdVHREhMuT6
Love knowing you were at your art class yesterday. Love knowing it was held at a nearby park. Love that my painting reminded you of flowers at the park. Love that you sent a link to your photo. Thank you!
