On my nightstand Inside his head, questions like race cars shuddered in a row, waiting to roar off. Suddenly he let the first one go.

Carol, thank you! thank you! thank you! I often wrestle with whether or not to post multiple intermediary steps in a process (especially with a piece such as this one, which has had a protracted development) and if so then how many, debating to what extent my blog is an artist's journal/journey to meet needs and intentions of my own and to what extent I am writing for others and aiming to keep them in mind as I document. Accordingly, I am humbled and grateful to discover that I am successfully serving both myself and at least one follower, i.e. you! Happy way to start my day! Again, thank you for this comment.
Simone, thanks! I'm liking this, too. It's still in an exploratory phase, lots of visual language questions to investigate—fun! Appreciate having you cheer me on : )
Simplifying here, but this makes me think of an aerial view of the beach. All those people letters lined up with their spot staked out. I could be wrong, but it does look like they are following CDC guidelines and observing the six foot rule. ;) Thank you Dotty for this little slice of delight :)
Sheila! I totally see the same aerial view. Takes me back to my childhood when I more reflexively entered imaginary worlds, peopled them, and played out scenes. "Slice of delight"—what a sweet phrase!

You could make a video of the progression! I looked at all from 1 - 19 and I am completely lost, which is a compliment. Love the snippets!

An easy search. "On My Nightstand, on My Easel" got all but not in 1-19 order! Glad I made your day!
Dear Dotty, this looks Really good! I love the combination of the letters and the paint!

a snippet! Yay! And a return to the big painting! WOOT! "Playing with questions" - love that. And the ransom note appearance of this section. :)
Ransom note hahaha love that notion! For sure playing with questions. Few answers. Plentya fun.
Thanks, Jen!
