Always grateful for remedies! I'm fascinated that my eye makes 'sense' of these shapes and lines, even with the piece in its final 'upside down' orientation (i.e. 180 degrees from direction while in process). Happy day to you, Carol!
Jen, THANK YOU for the visual language feedback! I am peeling away layers internally, feeling a strong pull in my heart to keep seeking the elusive je-ne-sais-quoi I yearn for when I paint. Less-fussiness-more-experimentation is calling to me. Paint something. Step away. Paint something else. Your feedback is hug of affirmation to just get in there, get my hands dirty, and go wild.
Sheila, good morning! Thank you! I love that you can—and do—so deftly articulate your viewer response, so valuable to me as the artist.
First, you identify an element of visual language: heavy curve.
Second, you identify your emotional response: a feeling of safety.
That I can stand in a cluttered 7x9' bedroom-acting-as-studio messing about with supplies and materials, following hard-won moments of intuition, with little intention other than to create a postcard for a friend on cardstock whose first life was to display a table number at my son's wedding, and generate a feeling of safety in you 2700 miles away is nothing short of magic! Washes me in wonder and gratitude.

Good morning to you. Thanks! I am ready for a nap! Copied to PS and flipped it. Like this orientation better!
A nap is never out of order—have at it!
I adore this weighty low horizon...the restraint with line makes it SO impactful. The way the TRADIN type makes line and vertical shape. Masterful.

Love that heavy curve. Makes me feel, safe. :) Beautiful piece!
