But today?
I relish nourishing early-day moments in my studio.
And I romp.
Windows and doors wide open to the fresh air and sparkle of a stunning summer morning in August.
Paintbrush and paints wide open to the unpredictable play of creating conundrums, puzzling out predicaments, ruining resolutions, and indulging impulsivities.
Really, though, what is that blue vase still doing there?

Romper Room! Magic Mirror! Maybe it is a mirror, not a vase? Or a cool pool to dip your toes in? Either way, I love it.
Romper, stomper, bomper boo. Tell me, tell me, tell me, do: vase? mirror? lake? Color feels wrong to me so I have a bunch of things to fiddle with here …
Thanks for your support, Jen!
Dotty, you HAVE to leave the blue vase! It’s reminiscent of the blue apothecary bottles from Portobello Road.
Joje, thanks for your feedback! Indeed, reminiscent of the apothecary bottles from Portobello Road, of which I still have one : )
Cobalt glass is a favorite, os I vote keep the lovely vase. This messy unfinishedness feels classic to me. I think Van Gogh would approve ;)
Sheila, thank you for your feedback re the cobalt vase, the messy unfinishedness (I've thought more than once of saying "finished"), and Vincent's tip of the hat! I'm working hard to let the painting tell me where to go (or not).
It's there because it needs to be! All cut flowers need it. It is a strong focal point so maybe some veiling, well who am I to know! Choices are always difficult but I am sure that next time you view you will know what to do!
Carol, I very much appreciate your feedback re focal point and possible veiling—hadn't even thought of veiling. This piece is giving me a real run for my money, I have to say.
