Inspiration

Along with moseying back into painting and blogging this week, I've begun to mosey back into Instagram.

While scrolling through my IG feed, I took inspiration from artist Maz Hawes.

Literally.

I inhaled and then before I even had time to exhale, I took that inspiration, squeezed some white paint on free canvas #3, and spread it around with a palette knife.

Then I let my breath out.

Love that all-action-no-mind kind of painting—thank you, Maz!

Oh happy day- I was afraid you weren't going to finally exhale, Dotty! You sure take us all on a trip when you describe your process. This is going to be another winner!

That's the miracle of veiling ;-)

Love the close ups Dotty, and I find myself staring at the piece as a whole. Love the textured white, the marks and scratches. It says abandon the rules and be free! :)

I love the close-ups, too, Sheila. And yes: abandon the rules and be free—a favorite place for me to be : )

Love your abandon. Really wonderful and lush. Detail shots great. Something will emerge from all these veils!

Laurie, laughing with delight at your taking part full throttle in the breath holding! I so appreciate your jumping in to read my thoughts. Thanks for your vote of confidence re this who-knows-where-it's-going WIP.

Carol, thanks for your appreciation for the abandon. Such a gift when it manifests in my studio. This does feel lush, doesn't it? Especially when I zoom in on details. I wonder when/if it might shift from abandon to some kind of intention.

Janet, thank you and thank you, and you're welcome and you're welcome!

The fun of this part of the process was the reckless impulsivity of the process itself—felt great!—AND the fact that I liked what showed up on the canvas. Win and win : )
