On my nightstand

You've perhaps noticed
how window plants
wind and grow
toward the light,
pressing their leaves
against the pane.
This turning toward the light
has a scientific name:
… heliotropism.
Jung spoke of a 
'human heliotropism.'
The True Self
seeks the light,
winding and growing
toward realization,
pressing against
the windowpane
of consciousness.

On my nightstand

When I was first learning to meditate,
[the] idea of beginning again
was revelatory.
It still is.

So liberating,
this idea that we can start over
at any time.

We feel our way through darkness,
pause,
consider,
breathe in,
breathe out,
begin again.

And again,
and again.

reworked (i.e. overworked) it

foraged in my collection of handpainted papers
and past painting studies,
totally recreated the patch
