Sitting at my computer checking mail and such, and as always just type in D in the browser window and up comes Dotty and a new post! What a lovely poem! Great contrast and textures! What paint is that black? I recall memories of hymns sung at a YWCA camp I attended when I was 12!
Baby sister's bday today—the last of 5 girls, and 12 years after the first/me. The first four were born in 5.5 years; then along came this sweet baby for the rest of us to dote on!
The reds, pinks, whites were freeplay on paper that I cut into quadrants. To complete this quadrant, I knew I needed contrast. I tapped into an acrylic skin I had made ages ago using black fabric paint b/c I knew the color and curves would provide said contrast : )
Some of my favorite hymns are ones I remember from YMCA camp.
Thank you, Sheila! Fun to have you note and appreciate the title of this piece (for my baby sister, for whom music reaches in all the way to the bone). Fun to have you pick up on the cheer here as well : )
Most definitely! We were left alone while Dad took Mom to the hospital in the predawn hours and I was afraid he wouldn’t come back in time to get us off to school (and you weren’t home for me to turn to!).

Pretty funny to me that you'd see my not-quite-twelve-year-old self as someone you would to turn to!
Meanwhile, I was just SO disappointed to have missed all the excitement while spending the night at the Sonnichsens.
