The Height of Summer

Process: bouquets of freeplay, a whole mess of weeds to tease out, plenty of watering, a touch of fertilizer.

The sacred gift of a dormant seed's coming to life awes me every single time.

Amen to that title! This is gorgeous! The textures, the collage pieces, everything falling into place. Love those "ice cubes" as Jen called them. The flowers that bloom in the spring/summer la la!

Thanks, Carol! Sometimes intermediate stages of a painting's unfolding can be very discouraging/disheartening but, with this painting, every stage engaged me without dismay, held me fascinated as I worked my way through to where it felt complete. Feels like a perfect piece to post at the height of our summer.

Thanks, Jen! Had fun with this one all the way through, and love where it took itself.

Indeed, hold that life in mind : )

Breathtaking, Dotty. And I can't believe we got to see it all emerge!

I've always hated spectator activities. Baseball? Snore. Football? Please stop! Dotty Seiter's blog? Yes, Carolyn! You're definitely a spectator.... you have no background or frame of reference. But fasten your seatbelt! You're in for an multisensory, mind expanding exploration that will take you places you've never been!

Dotty, you have no idea how exciting it is to share your work/play. Thank you so much for every single post!

Carolyn, thank you so much for taking the time to comment here today. I am humbled and uplifted! More than once I've thought back to when I did a brief stint writing Landmark's newsletter way back in its early days. You coached/nudged me to bring voice and liveliness to what I was writing—and showed me how. You made a lasting impact on getting my synapses to fire beyond the limits of essay and student progress report writing—can't thank you enough!

And I'm so glad you are an active spectator of my unfolding art work/play!

Pure joy in this messy, marked-up, bodacious bouquet! Thank you Dotty :)
