Surrender

I didn't offer (much) resistance to the outcome of my studio time yesterday.

I didn't like the outcome—definite ugly painting day, to my way of thinking—but I both valued it and allowed it to be yesterday's self-expression.

Because, really, what else could it be, anyway?

Today: movement.

Same piece of canvas, "same" person painting. But, movement in a new direction. I love the torn edges of the collage.

I would leave it...well at least for a week or so. It makes such a bold statement! Yes I also love torn edges. Lesson I learned, cover up what you think is ugly!

Thanks, Carol. The bold is fun, I agree. The painted collage paper is something I created ages ago; loved bumping into it and making use of it exactly as I found it in its already torn shape.

torn edges! love! surrender! necessary! I so appreciate your openness in sharing the process and its ups and downs (and sideways!)

Great edges, but also love your marks. Where to next....

Thank you, Jen. Posting the good, the bad, and the ugly visually and verbally has been a critical to my own growth and an act of courage more than once.

Onwards and sideways, as a friend of mine quips. Clearly, you and she have sideways in common at the very least : )

Scribbling, gluing, tearing, placing, and not knowing … all fun. Thanks for your vote of confidence and encouragement, Janet.
