Bah!

Upon completion of the Thirty-Paintings-in-Thirty-Days Challenge, participants are invited to post a collage of their paintings from the month.

I go to a couple of collage-maker websites.

Bah!

I don't have the mental bandwidth to figure out the simple steps.

---

Here's the mother of all my paintings from January: paint on a sheet of 16x20" canvas paper.

January 1st 16x20" underpainting for every other January painting

I cut that sheet in half, added paint to each half. Repeated those steps until I had sixteen 4x5" paintings completed at the end of the month. Grand experience!

Fun to have you be my first commenter! Exactly, the mother with her [many!] children. The challenge was a LOT of labor—for both me and that mother : ) Thanks for your support, Joje.

Love them all - I can't pick just one.....that wouldn't be fair to the 'children'! Congratulations Dotty!

Left a response on my blog, but will share name again of app I used for final collage - PicCollage Lite (the free version)....If I can get it to work anyone can....trust me on this! Let me know how you make out. Look forward to following you and your art adventures! Take care ox

Janet, thanks for stopping by. Laughed out loud at your care not to play favorites with the children!

Thanks for the PicCollage Lite info. I have several significant computer-related snafus going on concurrently at the moment (e.g. my own blog didn't get delivered to my inbox today) that have me feeling a bit crazed, and overwhelmed for sure. Nonetheless, I'm hopeful that I can soon see my way clear to playing with making a digital collage.

WOW! Seeing mother and children all together is overwhelming! I really lost count what came from what but I will re look at them all.
AMAZING!!! I feel I have to do this exercise as well again. Got some strong watercolor paper 21" x 12" which I will use. Should I gesso first? So watch out February!!!

Carol, thanks for your comments. Pretty cool to see mother and children together, isn't it? I'm so glad I stumbled onto the approach I took for the January challenge. I grew so much in my venturesomeness (wd?!) and in my comfort in covering over what I've already painted and in my openness to painting from not knowing. I didn't happen to gesso first. Didn't even occur to me.

Yes, watch out, February! Can't wait to see!

I really like that: 'Mother of all'....
It is a great sequence!

Fun, yes?, to recognize the mother of all these pieces. All month I just loved knowing that underneath each finished piece that original piece lay.

Hmm, now that I think further about the relationship, I realize that the original painting is actually the great-great-grandmother of sixteen great-great-grandchildren. The original 'woman' had two children, each of those children had two children … and that's as far as I'll take the analogy for now! I'll leave it to someone else to figure out who is cousin to whom and so forth!

Thank you for your appreciation of a 'great sequence'!

Sheila, a gift of your having been away and now visiting this revisit post two weeks down the road is that you've opened the door for ME to revisit as well. It's fun to reflect back on the January challenge. So glad we BOTH took part in the challenge. Thanks for your warm and unflagging support and encouragement.
