Woo hoo! I forget about contrast sometimes—but not this time! As of this reply, many days after your comments, I've fiddled a bit with each of these since, but they remain works in progress, especially the one with the bold black.

#1 is painting and writing over negative space to carve shapes from an earlier start—see my post entitled "Ltd." on August 10, 2017.#2 saw bunches of spiders at camp but they were meek daddy long legs, nothing as bold and black-widowish as what's going on in my work in progress!
