Wanting to paint flowers. That's where I am right now. And so I painted flowers, without knowing what style I might want. I'll see what evolves as I feel my way into this new subject. Certainly have countless flowers in our gardens that'd be happy to have their portraits painted.

Love that you're "yawning" at a perfectly lovely painting ... though with all your talk of wanting to paint "loose" I can see how this one is less loose than some of your others. Interesting to be starting to see what you're talking about. But again, a perfectly lovely image and I like how you chose to lay out the two flowers within the frame, even though there are others in the bouquet. It's an interesting visual twist to feel as if one is seeing a balanced, complete arrangement and then realize that there's more beyond the chosen framing of the image.

It's enlivening and engaging to get feedback—painting is a good match for my needing plenty of solitude in a day, but nothing beats a little input and art dialogue. Loved your attention to "chosen framing." I think back often to my first paintings and how literal I was, how narrow my sense of what might make a painting interesting to both painter and viewer. Plenty of road left to travel on that account, but what fun to be exploring.
