Joan of Art

1. I have dubbed both my friend Joan and our painting get-togethers Joan of Art.

2. Did we have fun yesterday, or did we have fun?

3. We had fun.

Calendar posters on lovely cardstock to use as substrates + laughter + shared paints and brushes and whatnot + lunch + partially remembered guidelines for painting flowers + playing loose with brushstrokes = this start for me:

work in progress
11x14"; acrylic and ink on cardstock

Flowers to start the day! How wonderful. In Dotty's world this is WIP but for me I see it framed matted on the wall! Absolutely love all those scratchy marks!

Carol, very helpful to have you say you already see this piece framed/matted/on the wall. Thank you. Makes me laugh that even when I'm 'playing loose' I'm still way 'tighter' than I think, i.e. seeing this as a WIP when someone else might be yelling, "Stop! NOW!"

Joan of Art! Love! These slightly abstracted flowers are giving me joy. I'm with Carol...your WIP is my done and signed! haha!

Joan of Art! Appeals to the punster in me!

Laughing that you, too, way my WIP is your done and signed. Not sure I believe that but, with this WIP, you'll get to weigh in later. In fact, please do. I'd love to know, when all is said and done, which iteration strikes you and Carol and anyone else who'd like to cast their vote as the 'best' stopping place.

LOVE you undone, done flowers. I agree, they stand on their own as is. even so, I am giddy with anticipation of what might come next :)

I'm so glad for all the feedback re this undone-done piece. I have to laugh that I often see and LOVE done where the artist sees not done (for instance, at Sheila's Corner Studio) but not recognize/appreciate same in my own art! That said, I've long since moved this piece forward so it's all a moot point this time around. Good thing I have photos!
