Placeholder

When our wild-child Bomb Cyclone Winter Storm was forecast last week, I wasted not one second before securing essential supplies—made an immediate beeline to my local library (not the grocery store for this gal). Because do not ever leave me without a stack of books at the ready.

Ever.

Transported my satisfying haul back home and indulged in a favorite followup activity—pulled out my stash of handpainted bookmarks and matched each book with just the right placeholder.

So satisfying.

Painted a new bookmark today. Actually, to be more precise, I took handpainted collage papers and cast-aside painting studies and collaged a bookmark.

First look at this is Egyptian! That eye catches all... probably the reader as well. Color palette of yellows and oranges emphasizes connection!

Carol, so much fun to get your feedback! I just love the surprise of hearing what others see, hearing what YOU see.

(1) Egyptian! Well, awesome—didn't see THAT coming!

(2)"Eye?," I think to myself. "What eye?" And, in fact, rather than assume I see the same eye you do, I'm going to actually ask: what eye?

(3) Do yellow and orange "officially" signify connection, or is that your personal response? In either case, I love your pointing that out, because this piece was made as a gift : )

The very top eye! Although I do love oranges and yellows, they have a connection in the piece and on the color wheel. I have a cube book on Egyptian art which I love.

That eye at the top is what I saw, too, as soon as you said 'eye'! Love it. No sooner seen than did appear an arched eyebrow above it, a lesser eyebrow to the left, and orange nose and mouth below!

Those were lost to me.

Gosh, I just love the Egyptian vibes emanating from this piece—Egypt was NOWHERE in my thoughts as I created.

And the eye watching the book reader read!!!

Totally laughing out loud, Joje! Goodness knows, *I'm* not the one to help with makeup!

Love this most of all for the sunny and warm palette. Just makes me smile. And the fact that there is a sly character looking back at me, can't help but giggle. And feel like I need to run before she figures out what I have been up to. Don;t know what that is exactly, but it looks like she has one over one me. LOL. So fun!!
I have a short stack of magazines to the right, and a book on the left. he he. ;o)

Sheila, glad you like the sunny warm palette. I don't know how I even got going with it, but it conferred sunshine and warmth on me, too. The sly character was SO sly that she totally escaped my notice until Carol tipped me off! Dhe definitely pulled one over on ME!

Magazines and a book sound delightful!

I always love your bookmarks, AND your book suggestions. Thanks for both of them!

Thanks, Simone. Making bookmarks is such a 'happy-place' activity for me. I love this bookmark every time I see it!
