Negative Space, Positive Space

Just have to post this next step in a piece that is still in process—as I played for a few minutes in my studio creating negative and positive space on my canvas, I moved from a negative internal space to a positive one! Grateful!

YES! Process is endlessly fascinating to me.

This photo makes me laugh each time I look at it b/c even though *I* am the one working on the painting, the figure/ground optical illusion here scrambles my brain for a few moments!

Isn't it wild? Suddenly, the layers in the background take on a whole new personality and function! Thanks, Sheila!

Those spaces vibrate!Hard to tell which is positive and which is negative!

Carol, I totally agree! Thanks for affirming my own experience of figure-ground disorientation each time my eyes land on this photo. As I mentioned above to Jen, even KNOWING what's figure and what's ground—BECAUSE I CREATED IT, FOR PETE'S SAKE!, I get tripped up : )
