Uncle

A short while ago I shared some history about my being Uncle Dotty to two of my nephews.

I have a different uncle story today.

My studio (which is also a guest room):

Its new, work-in-progress door:

The new, work-in-progress door to the bathroom adjacent to my studio:

The interior of the bathroom:

The guest room adjacent to the other side of the bathroom:

For the reasons above plus others, my painting life will take a different shape from usual this week—and perhaps for a few weeks! Not sure what that will mean, but I did some five-minute speed-painting sessions over the weekend which I'll post one by one, and I have two prepared-last-week posts that I'll share on Thursday and Friday.

UNCLE! I cry UNCLE!

And indeed that is just what I've done! Thanks for your support. Your recent clean-up-the-house-as-part-of-the-creative-process post was such a gift in helping me look through a different lens at my current circumstances.

Hi Dotty, I loved seeing just a peek from your studio! Actually we should make photo's of all those corners all over the world, in livingrooms, spare bedrooms, garden sheds etcetera. All people trying to make art, without big professional studio's! Hooray for us!

I wish you good luck with all this mess around!! ;-)

Use your 'everyday' studio photos idea in your new website!

Thanks for your good wishes with all the mess around—it reflects inner mess as well : )

Thanks for sharing. Love the views of your studio. How wonderful it will be when all the renovations will be done. I also don't have a studio. Actually work in 2 places, computer room, share the table with computer and printer and other stuff, and spare room, where I use the divan. As Simone said "Hooray for us".

Fun to hear about different studio spaces carved out by those of us without spacious designated studios. Where there's an artistic urge, there's a way!

Well, you have see my bedroom/studio. Not much to it. LOL. Love your big table! And shelves, so cool! Oh my, Holy commode Batman! You really are in chaos! Well, it will be awesome when it is all done. But yeah, hard to work with noise and dust all around. Hang in there Dotty! And how nice to have a husband who can do all the work!!

The gallery shelves are courtesy of my loving and handy husband, and I am so grateful for both him and them.

The chaos is laughable, I have to say.

Here's the kicker: the project started while Dave was on staycation last week. Now he's back to his regular work schedule. I'll let you put two and two together!

Oh, I love home renovations, said no one ever!! :D Looks like you're in the middle of chaos, Uncle Dotty. I can't believe you're still getting so much work done on your painting!! You need to pat yourself on the back.

Yeah, about those renovations; not my favorite circumstance. The good news—ironically, since we'll have house guests in a couple of weeks—is that Dave and I agreed to put our reno on hold until after our son's wedding celebration at the end of October. Works for me.

Thanks for reminding me to pat myself on the back! I do love to paint, just can't seem not to do SOMETHING that engages me creatively every day.
