Quick & Quixotic 2

Huh.

Maybe this is Maine, and we're looking at wild blueberry fields in autumn now.

When I first began painting I would not have known how to be so messy, how to paint with such a small intention—in this case, to spread a bunch of color and texture in the space below what appears to be a horizon line. I would have struggled to paint without knowing where I'd end up, and struggled to paint with the likelihood that almost all of what I was painting would become an underlayer.

But for this five-or-six-minute romp I … well, I romped!

Painted quickly and with abandon.

I LOVE your messy. I love being messy, but then there come a time to sort the mess! You still have the secret door! I am sure you'll find a way

Thanks for the thumbs up for this messy. I will sort the mess eventually, and that will be another bit of fun, especially since I painted a door to lead myself through. Even though we can't always see the doors that we've painted literally or figuratively, we've always created a way to get through : )

ooooh love this romp! This one is drawing me in! Love the high horizon line...

Thanks for romping along with me—we've got a lot of ground to cover before we get to that horizon!

Hey, that is a nice surprise after the episode that I just saw! Again: I love the fact that you keep your art practice alive. Even though it is a mess ;-)

You are a cheerleader by example with keeping an art practice alive, and I am so grateful! I just keep ignoring the mess, grabbing whatever materials I can, and playing for a few absorbed happy minutes.

Another fun visit to the Dotty Seiter hall of blogging! Always lots going on. You need to charge admission! Thanks for the glimpse into your creative space. Looks like a good place to be (especially when finished). And this Quixotic piece may be in my top 5 favorites. I love the composition. Very interesting piece!

Oh, have I not been charging admission to the DS Hall of Blogging? Maybe that's why no income?

Thanks for stopping by, Laurie—always a delight to see you! Great fun to hear that this Quixotic piece might already have won a spot in your heart.

I am going to have try more 'romping' when I paint! This is great - love the colour, texture and those gorgeous marks!!

Romp away, I highly recommend it! Thanks for your feedback on color, texture, and marks. One interesting part of the fast-and-furious little bursts of painting time that I am shoe-horning into a schedule that is so frantic right now that I find myself talking out loud to stay on track is that I just get in there and go. No time or bandwidth to (over)think, fuss, or do anything except fly in for a few minutes of painting and then fly out again. It's freeing.

The road trip influence has me seeing this as a panorama quickly passing by. I am not catching all the deets, but I do pick up on some textures and shapes/ In between shooting pictures from the backseat and making conversation! ;) Did I mention I love road trips? Almost as much as I love the journey's you take us on :)

Perfect encapsulation of this phase of Q&Q: a panorama passing quickly by. Thanks for being in the car for the ride, thanks for the conversation and camaraderie!
