Wreckless > Reckless

I start refining the mayhem layers I created the past couple of days.

In no time I consider covering the whole mess with gesso.

But I tap into the notion that this painting is wreck-less, and that viewpoint nudges the needle away from fussy towards reckless.

I throw color onto the 'vase' and scribble all over the 'blossoms' with India ink.

Who knows where this will take me.

Have you noticed the faces that are appearing? I love that it has lightened up and that diagonal shape is clear!

oh my gosh, didn't see any faces till now! Do you see more than one?? Thanks for your feedback re light/dark and diagonal. This piece is challenging me—all sorts of puzzles to resolve.

I love the word play! And your freedom with gesso. I see the faces, too! Many of them! Someone is trying to come through the paint...

Yes more than one! At least 4!

Well, holy moly! Now I see four faces and a woman exposing her breasts! I trust they are all cheering me on in their own ways.

Jen, happy for your appreciation of my word play : )

Knowing those faces are making themselves known renews my commitment to staying with this painting and wherever it wants to take me.

I am looking for Carol's faces. One I saw before is covered, and a new one emerged. Part of the magical fun :) LOL. LOVE where this is going. LOVE!!

Sheila, please hold that LOVE. I've continued to work a bit on this piece and it just keeps bedeviling me. I have moments of loving it, but more moments of utter confusion and/or dislike.
