Rust and Trust

I felt rusty on Sunday, painting for the first time in nine or ten days. Bumped more than once into discouragement, frustration, and/or negative self-talk as I developed another postcard from my first Lake Champlain work-in-progress.

What grounded me and diminished my struggles was twofold: trusting my lived experience of process, and Simone Nijboer's reminder in her most recent podcast that painting offers us the possibility to experience again and again how [we] can come back every time to the simplicity of being.

How I long to live in that place! Especially the cleanliness part! There is something just exactly right about your ability to merge wisdom with paint and words. A perfect recipe!

Watch what you wish for, Jen—I'm thinking the upcoming weeks may land you where convenience and cleanliness go right out the window!

Thanks for celebrating my 'perfect recipe' : )

I was sure I posted here! Something about yesterday dipping my feet in a cool creek and today visiting Broadway!

Carol, thank you for visiting again since what you were sure you posted didn't make it into print. I LOVE your creek-to-Broadway response! I did feel as though I'd unwittingly created a little city skyline, all lit up at night. Your comment also echoed what someone said at Instagram—this piece felt like a playbill to her : )

I really need to keep a journal of your titles. Just for fun and giggles. LOL. Catching up, and the podcast is on my list. So fun this. And the dots give it a bit of "Hollywood" flair. The marks are drawing me in. I find myself tilting my head like little Forrest Gump, to read the words. :)

Thanks for your feedback, Sheila; always a gift. Love that the dots give this piece a 'Hollywood flair' in your eyes. The words are Dutch : )
