Lake Champlain, Day 6

[entry drafted at Lake Champlain 6/13/18]

Huh.

This painting has surprised me more than once as I've worked on it at our little vacation cottage on this little island at the north end of not-so-little Lake Champlain.

Today, still a work in progress but 'finished' for now, it surprises me again when I step back to photograph it: I’ve painted a little self-contained island!

I think you have made a winner! But of course with Dotty there may be changes in the wind. Love that it is contained but with the option of moving out of the box. Good that you stepped back, sometimes we just don't recognize our own genius! Start thinking of a name!

Carol, LOVE your descriptor: contained but with the option of moving out of the box! Yes! This one will be under refrigeration for a considerable chunk of time before I look at it again. I painted it nearly two weeks ago while on vacation, am now scrambling to be ready for family to arrive on Saturday, and will have family on board for a full week. At that point I'll be lucky to even figure out where I will have stashed it in service of making my studio back into a guest room!

I really love this painting. It certainly feels 'new' to me! Fresh! Wonder what's coming.

Have fun with family! You will surely find it if you really need to make changes!

Simone, thanks for your encouragement and feedback re this piece's feeling new and fresh. As you'll see from my comment to Carol above, whatever comes next won't be coming right away!

An island huh... subdivided plots. A path connecting neighbors. LOve it ;)

Subdivided plots! Or perhaps ancient kurgans surrounded by henges—with a path for connecting neighboring spirits : )
