Wow

I did it—I captured what I wanted to!

I couldn't put words to the feeling and didn't have a specific image in mind, but now: feeling and image, manifested in paint.

When I set out over a week ago with an itch to scratch, I could not have imagined this particular painting would be the outcome.

But … if *I* didn't imagine it, then who did?

I knew at each step what to reject, what to keep. I knew precisely when to stop.

Wow.

Isn't a wonderful feeling when everything comes together. No doubt about it, it was you and no one else. I guess that's the way the process goes, you start intuitively, take off and add, and voila you have a great piece! Sounds so easy, but we know differently. Wow those skins are super cool!

Thanks, Jen! Laughing in delight at your proclaiming: no more stained glass here!

It WAS I! And what a captivating process this was for me. Aren't the skins fun? What you see here are small bits cut randomly from the sheet I made. Because the yellow is embedded in a clear skin of acrylic, those pieces could be moved about first to see where/how I wanted to place them and not glued in place till they felt 'right.'

Not looking through, but firmly AT. WOW! The skins brought me back. Love them, and the texture marks, and the JOYFUL warmth! The darks still give a sense of depth. The pops of blue guide me. The red is perfectly placed.... looking, looking..... LOVE it Dotty :)

As ever, thank you for your specificity of feedback. I learn so much from you and am tremendously grateful for the learning. Adding the skins was way fun. The texture marks probably look familiar to you, yes, given that they were made with the sheets you generously gave me awhile back?? Love your perceiving JOYFUL warmth here—hold that thought and revisit it when you read my next post : )

High Five Dotty! I wasn't sure where you were taking this but I'm glad you took me with you. Seems to me you have taken a lot of different elements and materials and brought them together and it works. Like how the black lines are interrupted in spots, the subtle veiling and mix of transparent and opaque. Congratulations!!

Janet, thank you! Very helpful to have your specific feedback re interrupted lines, subtle veiling, mix of transparent and opaque. Your little snippets of information are such a gift—a favorite way for me to learn.

You have me inspired to use skins now, Dotty! This is cool.
It just looks happy-like joyful fairies dancing!

I am learning from you! I am also trying to look at art and see what the artist (you!) are doing to arrive at a place where you have decided to stop. Enjoy our correspondence!
