ooooooh this patch has IMPACT! I can't stop looking! Fantastic!

Love that it has IMPACT for you, too, Jen—it sure does for me! Doesn't it feel like someone knew I liked repurposing items in my art so dropped off some stuff from an auto or plumbing parts junk yard? The best!

I really like this patch-format. Great idea to let different pieces come together this way. Looks like these little 'sliding puzzles'!

That’s exactly what I saw Dotty, parts from an auto or plumbing parts junk yard! They are so three dimensional.

Look at all your recent work! Awesome, Dotty. How powerful and strong Core Values is. Wonderful! I've been busy holding and feeding 10 week olds! I cleared my calander to help them until the nanny starts. Whew- I don't know how she does it. Awesome treat to see your blog!

Strong and powerful! Could easily be a large painting on it's own. Love the monochromatic flavot. Really jumps out of the page.

Oh, totally! Haven't thought about those little sliding puzzles in a long time, although I know I mentioned them in a post at some point in the past. Great image!

Glad you like this patch format, Simone.

Funny that you had the same thought, Joje. Especially since I'm thinking our combined experience in such junk yards would be next to nothing! The three dimensional part came about almost accidentally. I was mostly thinking to create contrast, and then all of a sudden, look what I had!

Thanks for the feedback, Laurie. I'm impressed and grateful that you had/took a moment to comment.

Love knowing that you are busy holding and feeding those babies : )

Carol, I appreciate your feedback. Your thoughts mirror my own. This patch is strong and powerful and could indeed be a large painting on its own. It stands out every time I look at Core Values as a whole. Like you, I like its monochromatic flavor.

Two thumbs up! I bet this dominates your 'Core Values' board and so it should. You have created a great dimensional feel and love the use of neutrals. Yes - I see plumbing parts but it also reminds me of those 3D metal ring puzzles. Do you think you would have painted this a year ago? Looking at these sketchbook 'squares' I see so much growth and maturity in your painting (can't think of any other words at this point) the past few months - Bravo Dotty!

Thanks for the thumbs up, Janet! This patch does dominate my Core Values board for the moment. The dimensionality developed of its own accord through subliminal 'thinking' rather than deliberate effort. I wanted to play with neutrals and big fat bold marks, and this is what emerged.

Yes, 3D metal ring puzzles! That's what these look like!

I might have painted this a year ago but probably at someone else's direction and far less spontaneously/intuitively.

I'm grateful that you've followed me long enough, have a keen enough eye, and a magnanimous enough heart to give me feedback on my growth and development in painting. Awesome! I am so grateful!
