New Project

With my new bookmarks completed (and one already in use—yay!), I've moved from a 'canvas' of 9 square inches back to the huge foam core 'canvas' of 1,728 square inches on which I first put marks a few weeks ago.

I've now added a thin slapdash coat of gesso, penciled off a grid of 6-inch squares and various rectangles, affixed tissue and magazine collage randomly, and set up for myself a big playground.

I don't have any particular outcome in mind at this point. Instead, I'm thinking of this foam core as a blackboard (whiteboard), an 'erasable' space where I can follow my nose to try out this or that.

Thanks, thanks, and thanks, Joje! I knew you'd take note of and appreciate the new title!

Love your playground and erasable philosophy! And I agree with Joany....the new title - perfection.

The playground and erasable philosophy reduce the preciousness quotient, for which I am grateful.

Yup, the new title feels just right for my Valentine : )

Well here on my Fire tablet I CAN comment. Love the title of the hearts. Love everything about that huge project. Drips, scribbles, and the square grids. Commented on G+! Do you remember what I did last time?

Yay—three cheers for the Fire tablet!

The title for the hearts painting is clearly the right one : )

The huge project is relaxing, giving me a chance to try out all sorts of nothing and everything, knowing that I will most likely cover it all anyway.

Hi Dotty,
Fun to see your board in the snow ;-). I love the idea of a playground. And: I already now like the contrast between the fine light parts, and the more coloured 'heavy' rectangles!

I couldn't resist propping my board in the snow—much of which has now melted, only to possibly be replaced with more tomorrow!

Thanks for your feedback re contrast. You've given me something to think about.

Love the new title, and the Jelly Belly playfulness in both of these! The drips and upside down drips are eye catching :)Love the mix of bold and beautiful with small and plain. I know those elements will likely be covered over, but knowing there are there, will make me look closer, to see, what I can still see. LOL :)
Ughh... more snow really? Sorry Dotty ;/ But you will have lots of gorgeous green later. LOL.

Jelly Belly playfulness! Love that, Sheila! Playful is the name of the game here with this new project. Just trying out stuff with less attachment to outcome than might otherwise be the case. Knowing, as you suggest, that this current civilization might get buried under another, and another, one day to be excavated and examined and valued by a top notch archaelogist such as yourself!

I love this title! And the new work in progress is great! Interesting grid pattern and so much variety....and erasable!!

Thanks for yet another affirmation of my choice of title : )

My new work in progress is fun, and varied, and still feeling open-ended and playfully inviting. That said, I can feel attachment sending out little tendrils. I know I'll reach a point where I'll have to make a heftier decision than has been the case thus far about where I will take this one.
